A stunt person was killed on the Vancouver, British Columbia set of “Deadpool 2” on Monday while filming a scene on a motorcycle, local authorities confirmed.
TMZ was the first to report about the accident, which reportedly occurred on Monday morning while shooting near Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver. According to TMZ, the stuntwoman — whose identity has not yet been released — was performing a stunt on a motorcycle when she “went airborne” and “Her bike crashed through the glass of a ground-floor studio.”
“Witnesses say she never applied the brakes,” TMZ reports. The driver was taken to a local hospital, but it’s unclear when she was pronounced dead.
Local authorities later confirmed the incident in a statement released online, saying, “Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of ‘Deadpool’ during a stunt on a motorcycle. VPD officers are at the scene, along with officers from WorkSafeBC.”
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
