Kodak Black Indicted for Sexual Assault

While Kodak Black climbs the Billboard charts, the rapper’s legal troubles continue to mount. On Monday (Oct. 9), he was indicted on charges of first degree sexual assault.

The charges stem from a teenage girl’s alleged sexual assault, which reportedly took place in Florence County, South Carolina last year.

The alleged assault took place at a local Comfort Inn & Suites in Florence, while the Pompano Beach rapper was in town for a concert at the Treasure City nightclub, according to local ABC affiliate WPDE.

Kodak Black has been accused of sexually assaulting the teenage girl, who reportedly told her school nurse about the incident, prompting a school resource officer to notify authorities.

The Project Baby rapper has been ordered not to comment on the incident or contact the alleged victim or her family.

Last year, Kodak Black’s attorney Gary Kollin claimed that his client was innocent. “We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free,” he said in a statement.

Today, Atlantic Records responded to the case’s latest development. “Atlantic Records is aware of the indictment and it was expected as part of the normal process of the pending case,” said a spokesperson for the label.

If convicted, Kodak Black could face up to 30 years in prison. No trial date has been set.
