The Brooklyn rapper, who’s been incarcerated since 2014, has resurfaced in images that were taken during visitations. In one image, he’s crouched down low with a man to his side. In another, he has one arm placed around a woman, smiling for the camera.

The photos are a glimpse into Shmurda’s current state. They showcase how much the 23-year-old rapper has grown physically behind bars. When he first came on the scene with “Hot Ni**a,” the New York MC, born Ackquille Jean Pollard, was just 19 years of age.

Last year, Shmurda was officially sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession. “I was forced to take this sentence, I did not want to take this sentence,” Shmurda told the court at the time. “I was forced by my attorney to take this plea.”

Due to time served, Shmurda could be out in four years.

Upon his release, Shmurda has major plans, including two movies. One of those films will be based on his life. “That’s going to be a fiction story about this whole experience,” he said. “I gotta say fiction, though. It’s going to be a fiction story.”
