Drake Shuts Down Fan Who Claims The Weeknd Wrote ‘Take Care’

Drake is silencing his critics once again. The rapper responded to a commenter on Instagram, who claimed that The Weeknd wrote a majority of his 2011 album, Take Care.

“Abel Tesfaye CO WROTE on ‘Shot For Me’ and ‘Practice,’ obviously was featured on ‘Crew Love’ and ‘The Ride’ and that’s it,” replied Drake. “There’s 20 songs on that album … don’t try me.”

There have been rumors regarding Abel’s contributions to Take Care, which celebrated its sixth anniversary this week. In 2015, The Weeknd told Rolling Stone that a handful of songs from House of Balloons appeared on the album. “I was hungry,” he said. “I was like, ‘Dude, take anything.’”

“I gave up almost half of my album,” he continued. “It’s hard. I will always be thankful—if it wasn’t for the light he shined on me, who knows where I’d be. And everything happens for a reason.”

Drake was also accused of using a ghostwriter, namely Quentin Miller, for 2015’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Once Miller’s reference tracks were leaked, Drizzy addressed the allegations.

“I need, sometimes, individuals to spark an idea so that I can take off running. I don’t mind that. And those recordings—they are what they are,” he told The FADER. “And you can use your own judgment on what they mean to you. There’s not necessarily a context to them. And I don’t know if I’m really here to even clarify it for you.”

Drake is now working on a new album and has hinted at a collaborative project with The Weeknd. Recently, however, there have been rumors of a renewed feud between them due to their romantic connections to model Bella Hadid.
