In the wake of two new women coming forward to accuse Nelly of sexual assault, the rapper’s girlfriend Shantel Jackson came forward late Thursday to negate their claims.
Although Jackson admitted in her Instagram-published statement that she knows the “Country Grammar” rapper, 43, “f–ked up,” she wrote that there was no truth to the Jane Does’ allegations.
“Having to go through all of this publicly is the worst feeling ever,” she wrote, “but this should not open the door to false claims.”
Jackson suggested there’s no way the alleged assaults could have happened because she was “at those venues, in the dressing rooms, and on that tour bus.”
She credited the women who have come forward with stories of sexual assault in the hopes of creating change but added all progress will be “discredited” when “people lie.”
Nelly, born Cornell Hanes Jr., has previously denied all allegations.
“Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation. He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer,” his attorney told Page Six in December. “As a result, Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation.”
