JAY-Z Files Trademarks for Restaurant & Department Store

JAY-Z, who once said he is not a businessman, but rather a business, man, is now looking to expand his empire to include a restaurant and department store.

According to new legal filings (via The Blast), the Roc Nation boss is trying to trademark “Hovino” under his S. Carter Enterprises company. The trademark is for “restaurant and café services, carry-out restaurant services, pubs, cocktail lounges, wine bars, and more.”

Jigga is no stranger to this world. In fact, he owns the famous 40/40 Club, which he opened in 2003 with his partner Juan Perez. In the past, Hov and his wife Beyoncé have also celebrated a vegan diet, so some speculate the restaurant could be rooted in plant-based recipes. That remains to be seen.

Additionally, TMZ reports that the multimillionaire and his partner Emory Jones are also looking to expand their Paper Planes brand to include department stores, an online shopping site, musical recordings, gym bags, tour books, jewelry, and a cosmetic line.

JAY-Z recently also filed documents to trademark Jaybo, the animated character from his “Story of O.J.” music video. The trademark covers T-shirts, sweaters, hats, blankets, dinnerware, mugs, cocktail shakers, and more. Can’t knock the hustle.
