Birdman Guarantees ‘Tha Carter V’ Will Drop This Year

While everyone’s been left wondering if we’ll ever see Lil Wayne’s long-delayed album Tha Carter V, Birdman feels pretty optimistic about it. In a new interview with Rap-Up, the Cash Money label head guaranteed that the LP is going to drop in 2018.

“Without a doubt. You will get [the album] this year,” he said, adding, “It’s gonna be well worth the wait.”

Releasing the album seems like a move to amend his relationship and legal troubles with Wayne. Birdman even complimented Weezy, mentioning that he had listened to a “few” cuts from the album.

Birdman continued, “He is the best ever to me. A lot of success coming from under his umbrella.” Baby anticipated that the album will be “the biggest album of 2018.”

Almost three years ago, Wayne filed a $51 million lawsuit against Baby’s Cash Money label. Wayne claimed that the label was detaining The Carter V and a multi-million dollar check. Last year, Wayne lodged a modified suit against Universal Music Group, accusing the major label of conspiring with Cash Money to withhold the money he was owed for developing the successful Young Money artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj.

While Weezy isn’t so fond of Birdman, Birdman’s remarks are always favorable toward his “son.” Baby was promoting his new Apple Music documentary Before Anythang: The Cash Money Story, which fails to address his strained relationship with Weezy. Baby also touched on his relationship with Toni Braxton.

Hopefully Wayne gets his just deserts, so we can finally, finally hear Tha Carter V.
