‘Christopher Robin’ Teaser Trailer Brings Back Old Friend Winnie the Pooh

You get by with a little help from your friends, and in the case of “Christopher Robin,” one very special, furry friend in particular.

Disney unveiled the first teaser trailer for the live-action film featuring the two beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s books. In those stories, a young boy had a series of adventures with his stuffed animals in the Hundred Acre Woods.

Now, Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) is all grown up and has a wife and daughter. He’s stressed out after his boss pressures him to skip a family vacation to work. That’s when Winnie the Pooh (voiced by Jim Cummings) shows up to lend a soft shoulder for emotional support.

He brings Christopher’s other friends, too, including Tigger (Chris O’Dowd), Eeyore (Brad Garrett), Owl (Toby Jones), Piglet (Nick Mohammed), Rabbit (Peter Capaldi) and Kanga (Sophie Okonedo). And of course, Winnie has plenty of sage advice for his old friend.

“I believe he’s not just a lovely teddy bear for children to play with or who can put you in a good mood,” director Marc Forster told Entertainment Weekly. “There’s this timeliness to him, and his Pooh-isms, as naive as they sound, there’s always so much truth to them.”

“Christopher Robin” opens in theaters August 3.
