Meek Mill Talks Nicki Minaj, Drake, & Drug Addiction on ‘The Breakfast Club’

Meek Mill continues his post-prison press tour. After speaking with “Dateline’s” Lester Holt and Power 105’s Angie Martinez, the Philadelphia rapper takes on “The Breakfast Club.”

During the lengthy interview, Meek opened up about his ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj, who recently appeared to side with Mill’s judge regarding an alleged improper request to remix Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee” with a custom shoutout.

“Why would I make that up?” asked Meek. “It actually was somebody else there. They said they don’t want to involve they self in it. But you know, [Nicki Minaj] definitely was there.”

Nicki recently seemed to indicate that the judge was fair to Meek while they were together. “The judge in question did everything I asked of her so I can’t badmouth her because I met her personally,” Minaj said. “I know what she said to us. He knows that I know that. Of course, I wouldn’t wish jail on anybody but…I’ll get into detail on that in the documentary and possibly on the album.”

Meek said he wasn’t pleased with this response. “I wasn’t feeling that,” he said. “She shouldn’t have said nothing. We’ll leave it at that. I don’t feel no way. I wasn’t feeling that. When it come to freedom — I don’t care who it is, this could be Safaree, or anybody — if I know something and that man’s freedom is on the line and I could say something to help the situation…It’s right or wrong. I’ma say it. If I don’t say it, I just won’t say nothing.”

The Philly MC went on to compare the judge to a “slave chaser.” “A guy in jail was like, ‘That lady a slave chaser. You a dream chaser. You trying to run from the plantation. You made it far. You made it 30 miles out. They sent her to chase you down. Y’all could have both got away. She grabbed you and dragged you all the way back.’ That’s how I view it, for real, for real,” Meek added.

Elsewhere during his interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Meek spoke about his opioid addiction, his Drake feud, and JAY-Z’s legal help.

ON JAY-Z: “JAY-Z is actually responsible for some of my legal fees, which I thought was the dopest in the world because it was some millions of dollars. I don’t even think I could have afforded it. We definitely ain’t need to start no fund or no shit like that. We have bags sitting around everywhere.”

ON ORIGINAL ARREST: “I got found guilty for selling coke. I ain’t never sell no coke. They only said that I sold cocaine to somebody to get a warrant to run in the house we was in. The house we was in, there was a lot of trappers in there but nobody wasn’t trapping in and out of the house.”

ON ADDICTION: “I never had molly in my life. I thought [Percocet] was okay, I wouldn’t be addicted, or it wouldn’t hurt me because it’s a pill that a doctor would prescribe you. A girl gave it to me one day, ‘This is gonna make you f-k for an hour.’ Yeah? Let me try this. This a pill that a doctor would give me if I had a toothache. Sometimes you gotta go overboard. I made girls fall in love with me off Percs.”

ON ADDICTION (CONTINUED): “I got addicted. It wasn’t a mental thing. It’s just, when you don’t take it, your body’s shutting down. If you’re addicted to opioids, it’s like heroine…it’s an addiction. You shouldn’t go to jail for addiction. It should be rehabilitation.”

ON DRAKE: “I ain’t talk to him yet. I seen him on FaceTime the other day…It was good energy. He put good energy in the air. What happened happened. We moved past that. I think we’ll have a conversation or something when we see each other and keep it moving in life.”

ON KANYE WEST: “He need to visit a prison. Go see what’s going on.”

ON BEYONCÉ SHOUTOUT: “Beyoncé ain’t shouting no ni**as out. I took that as God really working in my favor. You got Bey talking about ‘Free Meek Mill.’ That was a great day…These people got a lot of influence. They basically helping to save my life.”
