Tyrese Is Being Sued by American Express for $61,000

Unfortunately for Tyrese, it looks like he owes a ton of money to American Express.

Last year, Tyrese was going through a tumultuous battle for custody of his daughter. This troubling situation paired with his ongoing public feud with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson over his Fast and Furious spin-off and money issues, in turn prompted an unsettling online meltdown.

Tyrese later issued an apology for his string of odd behavior, explaining that he was on psychiatric medication for stress and anxiety which lead him to act out. He said, “Because of this high stress and very traumatic experience I was… connected with multiple therapist[s] and psychiatrist[s]… and these were the psych drugs that was suggested and this is the reason I had a complete meltdown online.”

Since then, Tyrese has gained half custody of his daughter and been fairly quiet when it comes to online antics. Now, it seems that the actor/singer/producer etc. is running into some more money problems, according to TMZ.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, American Express is suing Tyrese for an unpaid balance of $61,071.35. During his custody battle against his ex-wife Norma Gibson, Tyrese allegedly filed documents that claimed his monthly income was $105,686 but had monthly expenses totaling $107,576. Of course, the documents also noted that Tyrese has around $900,000 in the bank, and is also known to have purchased a $4 million dollar home in Atlanta recently.

Regardless of Tyrese’s current financial situation, one thing is for sure—American Express is going to be looking to collect their money.
