I Octane is encouraging his fellow entertainers to share all aspects of their journeys with fans, not just the benefits.

According to the “Hot World” deejay, entertainers who only share their successes on social media are sending the wrong message to fans and up-coming artiste hoping to make it in the industry.

The deejay claims that while it is ok for an entertainer to show off his many achievements it is also important for them to highlight the hard work they put in.

“As an artiste and yuh successful, that great. Highlight yuh things dem, that is your right, it’s good,” he said. “But what about highlighting the journey? In other words, highlight the preparation because we have people weh we inspire globally … people feel like we get things overnight. So when dem see the journey and the preparation, dem will know it’s not an overnight thing.”

Since the deejay’s statement, several other entertainers have also added their voice to the conversation, including producer Esco and Montego Bay-based female artiste Destiney Sparta.

Both entertainers agreed with the Dancehall superstar adding that up-coming artistes need to see the struggles, the sleepless nights, as well as the countless disappointments that are involved in the process.

They claim that showing the process will give younger artistes a greater appreciation for the craft as well as motivation to stay strong and persistent despite any obstacles they may face.
