Singer Chris Brown was in custody in Paris on Tuesday after a woman claimed he raped her in a hotel.
Brown, 29, was detained Monday on potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infraction. French authorities have another two days to decide whether to charge him or let him go.
A 24-year-old woman told investigators she met the artist early Jan. 16 in Parisian nightclub Le Crystal and followed him to his suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel with a couple other women.
The woman says she found herself alone in a room with the singer and that he raped her, according to local newspapers. A friend of Brown’s and his bodyguard also abused her, she said.
One of Brown’s bodyguards and another person were detained with the singer, local police officials said.
Brown’s publicist at Sony Music wouldn’t immediately comment on the complaint.
The platinum recording artist has been in continuous legal trouble since he was convicted for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. He completed probation in 2015.
In 2016, he was arrested at his home north of Los Angeles for allegedly pointing a gun at former beauty queen Baylee Curran. He denied the allegation and was released on $250,000 bail.
