Cardi B became the first solo female rapper to win Best Rap Album at Sunday’s Grammys. Her debut album Invasion of Privacy beat out the competition, which included Pusha-T’s Daytona, Mac Miller’s Swimming, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap, and Travis Scott’s Astroworld.

An emotional Cardi took the stage to accept the honor alongside her husband Offset. “The nerves are so bad. Maybe I need to start smoking weed,” she joked.

The last time a female took home the award for Best Rap Album was in 1997, when Lauryn Hill won as part of The Fugees for the group’s album The Score.

Cardi later took to Instagram to celebrate her win and share the honor with the late Mac Miller. “I’m sharing this Grammy with you, motherfu**er. Rest in peace,” she said.

Cardi’s peers including Lil’ Kim and Remy Ma took to Twitter to congratulate her.

Thank U Jesus!!!! Look at God 🙌🏽 Congratulations boo @iamcardib you deserve it!! So happy for you ❤️ #GRAMMYs

But not everyone was happy. After her ex Mac Miller lost in the category, Ariana Grande tweeted “f**k,” “trash,” and “literal bullshit.” She quickly deleted the comments. However, she said her tweets were not shading Cardi.

A fan tweeted, “Ariana isn’t shading Cardi it’s cause Mac didn’t win,” to which Grande responded, “nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry.”

Another Twitter user said Cardi is “trash tho [for real].” Ariana replied: “she’s not at all and that’s not what i meant and u know that.”

Another fan expressed their dismay, writing, “Y’all invited Mac’s parents out and you didn’t give him an award are y’all DUMB? @RecordingAcad.” Grande responded, writing, “this. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made.”

Miller’s family was invited to attend the Grammys on his behalf. His mother Karen Meyer attended the ceremony with Pete Davidson’s ex Cazzie David.
