Koffee The Youngest Jamaican To Make UK Official Singles Chart In 41 Years

Koffee has created history with her smash hit single Toast.

The track secured the No. 84 spot on the UK Official Singles Chart. The entry makes the 19-year-old Reggae singer the youngest Jamaican artiste in 41 years to make the chart.

According to The Jamaica Observer, Millie Small was 17 years-old, when she reached number two on the UK chart in March 1964 with My Boy Lollipop. It would take another 14 years before the teenaged duo of Althea and Donna (ages 17 and 18, respectively at the time) to hit number one with Uptown Top Ranking in February 1978.

Koffee is currently promoting her debut EP, Rapture. The project was released on March 14  and debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart with first-week sales of 444 copies.

The project comprises of 5 powerful tracks including three previously released: ‘Toast’, ‘Throne’ and ‘Raggamuffin’.

Rapture features two new songs ‘Blazin’ featuring the ‘poetic author of Jamaican music’, Jane MacGizmo and EP-Titled, ‘Rapture’. Speaking at an exclusive listening event held earlier in the year for the upcoming release, Koffee describes Rapture as a “kind of fresh and new vibe” coming from her.

“I am feeling very excited about the release of my EP. It is my first opportunity to present myself to the world in the form of an extended play and I can already feel that it will be a huge milestone in my career and journey. My favorite song is the EP-titled “Rapture”, on which I express myself passionately, melodically and lyrically. I am elated to finally share this with the world.”
